Why I love creating my work.

It is 2:36 a.m. and I am still working in my studio. I have been working like this for more than a week already and even though I feel tired, there is always something that keeps me motivated to keep on going.

I am overwhelm by something I saw posted in Facebook just a couple of minutes ago. I got into my profile to look for something and to my surprise I noticed a post by a wonderful artist and someone that I admire a lot, Angela B. Crispin

Angela wrote in her blog about a piece of jewelry she got from me a couple of months ago.
She was cheering me up during my design process of this piece and when it was finally done, she send me an email telling me she wanted to have it.  The symbol of my piece was close to her heart and I was more than happy and honor to know she will own it.

This piece is close to my heart too. It symbolizes my big love and passion for what I do. The hand is a strong symbol of labor, craft and work but also symbolizes friendship, kindness and healing. The wings are the freedom to do what I am passionate about.

Angela, thank you for you beautiful post.
Moments like this make me keep on working and creating pieces that come from my heart.
Merci beaucoup Angela !!

Love,
Lorena

Finally I finished my piece.

"Frames of a miracle"

My necklace is finished and I enjoyed every minute working on it.

I always try to make a piece of jewelry that will tell a story or will give you a feeling when you look at it.

This piece was a great way to express our journey through my daughter's first three months in the Intensive Care Unit and also represents the beautiful personality that she has today.

The Materials I used were PMC3 for the two main frames, Bronzclay for the six little frames , copper wire, epoxy resin, photos, sterling and pearls.

All the texture on the frames was done by using my own design stamps and carving the design on the metal clay.

A new project, a new challenge

I am starting to build a new piece that it is very close to my heart.

This new work piece is inspired by our journey with our daughter Veronica when she was born 3 months early in 2002.

Veronica's birth weight was 1 lb 11 oz, and even though she was extremely ill more than two times she always fought back with all her heart.

She was an inspiration for all of us because she never let go and fought all the time during her three months at the NICU.

Veronica nowadays is a very healthy, energetic, positive and loving little girl that is always teaching us a new thing every day ;-).

The piece is going to be created by a combination of bronzclay frames and two PMC3 (silver clay) frames that will be the central focus of the necklace.

I am still working on the final design and a title.
