I only use the carbon inside a small ...Thanks !! :)<br />I only use the carbon inside a small vessel for the FastFire Bronzclay and if you use gemstones you only have to wait until the kiln is completly cool down to take the piece out to avoid having your CZs brake because of the temperature contrast. For firing the PMC3 and if you need to fire a fire that needs support, I prefer to use vermiculite and lay the piece on top of it. Some of the kits cost more than the kiln! I thought it would be some complicated attachment but there is a whole pre-drilled in the top and you insert the probe through the styrofoam. It's easy. I am hoping the hole doesn't get too big when it gets jostled taking the lid on and off. She covers a lot of information and has great projects.<br /><br />I had the pyrometer and the controller but I only used the pyrometer.
