(she taped them together but the studio went out of business... taking all my previous work with it) anyway, i was wondering if someone could help me. my firing vessels are very small. about the size of a condiment cup. can i layer my pieces? like sprinkle the carbon over one and put another or will it all burn away leaving them stuck together? i know i sound like an idiot, but this studio kind of screwed me and i only learned to create pieces. they closed before i learned about firing and they kept all my money. sorry! little bitter! haha anyway, should i follow the advice above about the firing schedule? "You can increase the temperature to 1550F and hold there 2:30 hours."? Would this be a good setting for small flat pieces? Some are as small as a fingernail, and a few are 3 dimensional about one inch long and probably about as thick as the heart pictured above. any advice for this newbie would be greatly appreciated!!!! by the way, lorena your pieces are GORGEOUS!!!!!!!! i admire your work very much. :) i hope to make something as beautiful as your works one day. -lindsay contactlindsaybell@yahoo.comLindsay Bellhttp://www.waterandearthjewelry.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2803167142725743291.post-13895026232542880842011-09-29T14:42:36.871-05:002011-09-29T14:42:36.871-05:00Ana,

I'm having lots of trouble with my fast fire bronze clay too, after many firings with no issues whatsoever. Suddenly, full ramp to 1525 and holding for 2 hours isn't working. All my pieces crumble, and today my pieces fell apart IN the carbon before I even removed them! I'm SO frustrated. I use a top loading Paragon Firefly manual kiln, and just purchased brand new coconut carbon and a clay firing vessel (meant for carbon firing). I suppose I need to ramp up my temps?? I sell these pieces and now my clients will have to wait several more days to get them....assuming I can even get this to work. Any ideas for me? Thanks in advance, and lovely work, by the way! <br />AnaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2803167142725743291.post-65837666643780582612010-11-21T14:02:02.199-06:002010-11-21T14:02:02.199-06:00Sue,

The second piece was fired at 1550 for 2 hours and the same thing happened. I'm also getting a rusty residue on the outside of my kiln door. Any ideas about what my problem is? Should I just turn up the heat until I have success?? I'm frustrated!! Any input would be so appreciated! Thanks.
